Greater Lansing Business Guide Is Live: Discover More of What’s Local
A new community directory connecting Greater Lansing residents with the businesses that serve them.
Who do you call when you need an electrician? Where can you find a photographer for senior pictures, a cleaning service for your home, or a new class to try?
Sometimes, the right business is close by. You just haven’t heard of it yet.
That’s why we created Greater Lansing Business Guide—and we’re excited to announce that the directory is now live.
Our goal is simple: make it easier for people to discover local businesses, understand what they offer, and make a connection. At the same time, we want to give business owners another way to introduce themselves to the community they serve.
Built Around Greater Lansing
This guide started with conversations, not just business listings.
We reached out to local owners and heard from contractors, shopkeepers, photographers, fitness instructors, cleaners, event professionals, and many others. Some had been serving the area for years. Others were building something new. Each had a different story, specialty, and reason for doing the work.
Those conversations helped shape what Greater Lansing Business Guide is becoming: a place to find businesses and get to know the people behind them.
Our focus extends beyond Lansing’s city limits to East Lansing, Grand Ledge, DeWitt, Holt, Mason, Okemos, Haslett, and the surrounding communities. A business doesn’t have to be downtown to be part of someone’s everyday life here.
“Support Local” Means More Than Shopping
Shopping at a neighborhood store is one way to support a local business. But it isn’t the only way.
It can also mean hiring a nearby painter, signing up for a dance class, booking a massage, choosing a local insurance professional, or finding someone to help plan an event.
That’s the broader idea behind this guide. We want it to be useful for everyday decisions—not just the occasional shopping trip.
Maybe you already have a favorite restaurant but need a reliable place to take your car. Maybe you’ve lived here for years but have never needed a plumber until now. Or maybe you’re new to the area and still building your list of people and places to call.
Use Greater Lansing Business Guide as a starting point for discovering your next local connection.
Get to Know the Business Behind the Name
A business name and a phone number can get you started. But there’s often more worth knowing.
Does a photographer specialize in families, seniors, or commercial work? Does a cleaning company handle recurring home cleaning, office spaces, or move-outs? Does a fitness studio welcome beginners, offer small-group coaching, or focus on a particular kind of training?
Those details help people decide whether a business fits what they need.
As the guide grows, we’ll be sharing business-owner interviews, feature articles, and social spotlights that bring those stories forward. We want to introduce the people doing the work, explain what makes their services distinctive, and help readers discover businesses they might otherwise overlook.
This blog is part of that effort. Our first post is a welcome; the posts that follow will be an opportunity to meet more of the community.
Own a Local Business? Start With a Free Listing
Standard business listings are free, and they will stay free.
We want business owners to be able to participate without having to purchase a marketing package. Optional premium listings and featured opportunities are separate from the standard listing.
Whether you run a storefront, travel to customers, or provide a specialized service, we’d like to hear what you do and which Greater Lansing communities you serve.
Start by sharing your business name, services, service area, and the best way for customers to reach you. Our team can help you understand the listing options and the next steps.
And when your information changes, let us know. An updated phone number, service description, or website address can make the difference between someone getting in touch and moving on.
Help Us Build Something Useful
Launching the website is the beginning. Making it a useful local resource is the work that comes next.
You can be part of that by exploring the guide, sharing it with someone who needs a local recommendation, and telling a business owner about the opportunity to be included.
Know a business we should hear about? Send it our way. Notice something that needs updating? Let us know.
The goal isn’t to replace a recommendation from a friend. It’s to give you another place to look—and another way for a business worth knowing to become a familiar name.
Greater Lansing Business Guide is live. Take a look around, discover someone new, and help us introduce more of the businesses serving our community.
